Orange City

Located just south of DeLand, Orange City was founded in 1874 by Dr. Seth French and a group of settlers from Eau Claire, Wisconsin. Originally known as the Wisconsin Settlement, the settlement quickly established a school, church, library, several store buildings and a hotel.

Orange City is home to Blue Springs, the largest spring on the St.Johns River, on 518-acres, and designated as a manatee refuge area. The scenic St. Johns river provide residents with access to the pristine beauty of Florida. Each minute, 75,000 gallons of pure water flows from the spring into the St.Johns River, Blue Springs is world re-known as the Home of the Manatees. Every winter, the gentle Manatees arrive to take shelter in the Blue Spring Run.
