Pierson
Peter Pierson of Sweden and his brothers Nels and Carl, arrived in the area in 1876. The town was named Pierson c. 1885, when the railroads began to cut through to
such settlement as these in Volusia County. Pierson was incorporated in 1926.
Peter Pierson and his son Eugene as pioneers of the fern industry, planted in 1904, 10,000 Asparagus Plumosus ferns, this early enterprise developed into what is
today a 100 million dollar industry.
Yearly, this small community conducts a Civil War reenactment called the "Pierson Crossroads Raid."
